- in 1925 Hindenburg elected as president, former war leader showed promising leadership
Weaknesses of Weimar Republic
- Born out of defeat
- No single party so no majority- unstable&weak coalition gov
- Difficult to see who had more power -Parliament or President with article 48
- Germans not used to democracy
- Army leaders wanted Kaiser
- Economic instability- inflation&hyperinflation
- Recovety relief too much on USA’s economy (wall St crash disastrous)
