Q

3 ways the executive failed to protect rights

A

2023, Home Secretary Braverman used secondary legislation to manipulate and push through the most controversial aspects of the Public Order Act including policing powers to tackle peaceful protest

In 2020 cabinet members did not consult parliament, since it was an emergency, to kerb social rights by placing lockdown restrictions

Justice Secretary Raab devised a British Bill of Rights to repeal statute rights held in the Human Rights Act. The move was to mirror the American Bill of Rights which the Secretary suggests will make rights more concise but critics warn water down rights.
