The right to give evidence using alternative arrangements means that victims of crime can have their case heard through methods such as a closed circuit tv reducing trauma and having a better chance of giving reliable evidence.
This right applies to those who have suffered from a sexaul offence, one of obscene nature, if they have seen or are a victim of domestic/ family violence or they are underage or suffer from a mental imparment
What is the right to be informed about procedings?
The right to be informed about proceedings means a direct victim of crime ( such as someone who has been assaulted) can be given information about the date and time of proceedings, the outcome of the case and any appeals that may occur.
What is the right to be informed about the likely release date of the offender?
The right to be informed about the likely release date of the offender is a right afforded to victims who sign up for the victims register, this right will allow them to be informed when an offender is released, if they have escaped prison, or any parole periods. This ensures a victim can take necessary precautions.
How does the right to give evidence using alternative arrangements uphold the principles of justice ?
Fairness- is upheld as the evidence provided by the victim would be more reliable, leading to a judge and jury making a more impartial decision
Access- is upheld by allowing victims to of specific crimes to have their case heard in this fashion, although not all individuals have the right meaning access is not met to a full extent
Equality- is upheld by not taking into consideration any personal characteristics when allowing a victim to give evidence in this manner. It is also upheld by equal treatment meaning an individual can not be seen differently for giving evidence this way.

Fairness, is upheld as it promotes an open process as it allows victims to openly watch trials.
Access, is upheld by giving all direct victims of crime the right to be informed, meaning they can access further means if they would like to participate in proceedings.
Equality, all directly victims are enabled the this right regardless of personal characteristics
