a system of ideas, especially one which forms the basic of economic or political policy’s
What does constitution?
the group of laws or principles that state how a country is to be organised and governed
What is a codified constitution?
when the constitution is written
What is a un-codified constitution?
When the constitution is un-written
What are the 8 organisations made up from the British Constitution?

What is a democracy?
when citizens are allowed to vote
What is a dictatorship?
when a country is ruled by one person or group
What is devolution?
the transfer of power from a higher level of government to a lower level
What is the order from highest to lowest government?
international (e.g the EU) central government national devolved regional government local council
What are some advantages of devolution government?
it reduces the workload of British parliament and government
it will be more democratic because the government will be brought closer to the people
What are some disadvantages of devolution government?
it creates extra layers of government which will lead to confusion and increase in cost of the taxpayers
Nationalist also argue that they should have a separate voice in Europe, but a devolution government doesn’t do this
What is tax?
is a mandatory financial charge which goes to the government to pay for public services
What are some types of taxes?
income tax (money that gets taken out of your salary) national insurance (same as income tax) VAT- value added tax (tax that everyone pays. It is added to everyday buys

an annual statement made by the chancellor of the exchequer to the HoC about the TAXATION POLICY/RISING INCOME
