What is a right?
Something we are legally allowed to do or have. Ex. Protest
Can a province or territory opt out of the Charter of rights and freedoms?
Yes, they can use the “not withstanding clause”.
Example of Fundamental Freedom

4) freedom of peaceful assembly / association
Example of Democratic rights
1) vote
2) run for government
3) can’t be in power for more than 5 years
4) you have to work every 12 months

1) travel, live or work anywhere in Canada

2) no discrimination against race, skin colour, age, disabilities.
