How to measure overall length
Tape in line with shaft. Adjust using screws on side of shaft.
Where do you measure inboard length to and from?
From the outboard edge of the collar to the handle
Where do you measure outboard to and from?
From the collar to the edge of the oar.
What does moving the collar towards the handle do?
Reduces inboard and increase outboard.
What does moving the collar to the spoon do?
Increases the inboard and reduces the outboard.
What should the overall length be for a lightweight woman?
lightweight women is 288cm.
What should the overall length be for a club level woman
296
What should the overall length be for an ow man
290cm (big blade)
What should the inboard, outboard and spread be for OW women?
Spread: 156-158
Outboard: 200-202
Inboard: 86-88
Length: 288
Overlap: 18-22cm
What is the general rule of thumb for adjusting inboard and outboard lengths?
Shorter people need less inboard and shorter sculls.
Taller people need more inboard and longer sculls.
What should the spread, outboard, inboard and overlap be for an OW man?
Spread: 158-160
Outboard: 204-202
Inboard: 86-88
Length: 290
Overlap: 18-22
What does adding a clam do?
Increase the inboard and reduce the outboard.
How much room should there be at the finish after adjusting the foot stretcher?
Ensure there are 1.5 hand widths.
What will it look like if the stretcher is too far to the stern?
There won’t be enough room between the hands, extracting the blades will be difficult
