What’s the first thing you do upon arrival at a crime scene
Deal with any emergency situations

Any death by external causes ie homicide-suicide

Sudden death unexpected death where the person was apparently in good health

What are the two exceptions to medical examiner responding to a death
The death is from natural causes or the death is a result of a highway accident
However in those cases medical examiner must still be notified in view the body at a later time
When do you begin the preliminary investigation
After emergency situations have been managed in the crime scene has been secured
Duties during preliminary investigation
1 interviewing victims witnesses and suspects
2 conducting a neighborhood canvass
3 measuring photographing videotaping and sketching the scene
4 searching for evidence
5 identifying collecting examining and processing physical evidence
6 recording all statements in observations
