an anacrusis is a fancy word for an upbeat

when all the notes in a rhythm get shortened but the ration remains the same
e.g. crotchet to quaver, quaver to semiquaver, ect

when all the notes in a rhythm get lengthened but the ration remains the same
e.g. crotchet to minim, minim to semibreve, ect
what is hemiola
when a group of 6 beats is split into 3 groups of 2 beats rather than being split into 2 groups of 3 beats
what is a lombardic rhythm / scotch snap
when a short note is followed by a longer note instead of the opposite
e.g. a semiquaver then a dotted quaver
what is the pusle
the pulse is the musical beat. it is a regular rhythm

a rhythm that mainly coincides with the pulse/beat of the music
