What is Kawasaki disease?
A
Type of vasculitis which is predominantly seen In children

What are the features of Kawasaki?
A
High grade fever which lasts for >5days. Fever is characteristically resistant to antipyretic
Conjunctival injection
Bright red cracked lips
Strawberry tongue
Cervical lymphadenopathy
Red palms of the hands and soles of feet, which later peel.

What is the management of Kawasaki disease?
A
High dose aspirin (one of the few indication for aspirin in children, due to the risk of Reyes , aspirin is normally contraindicated).
IV immunoglobulin
Echocardiogram (used for screening of coronary artery aneurysm)
