Define Allusion
Referring indirectly to an object or circumstance from an external context. It is left to the audience to make the connection.
Define Anaphora
The repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive phrases, clauses or lines.

Opposition or contrast of ideas in balanced construction

Lack of conjunctions between phrases and words

Sudden descent from the sublime to the ridiculous

Exaggeration for emphasis or for rhetorical effect

A statement intended to convey its opposite meaning

Contradictory ideas juxtaposed e.g. A deafening silence

Evoking a feeling of pity
