ironic understatement ex. you wont be sorry
metonymy
the substitution of the name of an attribute for the thing meant. ex hand for assistance
paradox
a seemingly ridiculous statement that has a logical answer or a seemingly normal statement that has no logical answer.
synecdoche
a part represents the whole. Pittsburg won by 6 Pittsburg means the baseball team
digress
leave the main subject temporarily in speech or writing.

relating to or characteristic of a serious poem
