a figurative device that draws a parallel bet when two unlike things that have several common qualities of parts of resembelence

the word choice or style of speaking that a writer or speaker uses
Hyperbole
refers to statements that use exaggerated language to emphasize a point
Imagery
uses a vivid description that appeals to a reader’s senses to create an image or idea in their head
Juxtaposition
when a writer or speaker places two things side by side to highlight their differences
Euphemism
a polite phrase or word used in place of one that may be too direct or harsh
Metaphor
a comparison between two unlike things
Perspective
how the text is being presented to readers. whos pov is the text being told from?
Parallelism
a balance within one or more sentences of similar phrases or clauses that have the same grammatical structure
Rhetorical Question
when the author asks a question that not supposed to be answered but to prove a point
Repetition
when an author repeats words or phrases to add emphasis on a specific topic
Tone
how the author feels about the topic
Transitions
words that help flow with the text
