Effect of French and Indian War on Britain
Having all of this new land was very hard to manage for the British, because they were so far away and ruled so many different people - Great Britain felt like they needed to tighten their control

A form of government where the citizens elect representatives to vouch for them

A document that asked for the repeal of the stamp and sugar acts.

A tax that the British Parliament passed in 1767 that was placed on paper, lead, glass, paint and tea

An organization of colonial women formed to protest British policies.
Quartering Act
A law that required colonists to feed and shelter British troops.
Boston Massacre
An event where British troops opened fire on a crowd, killing five colonists.
Loyalists
American colonists who remained loyal to Britain and opposed the war for independence.
Patriots
The colonists who wanted independence from Britain.

Emergency governments established by the patriots in response to British policies.
