Sons Of Liberty

A

A protest organization formed by Sam Adams. They made protests happen when needed. For example, Paul Revere, Sam Adams, the Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre.

A

1st and 6th governor of Virginia and a founding father. His speech, “give me liberty or give me death,” inspired Patriots to join the cause and stop the British.

A

A

A tyoe of protest where colonists refrain from buying British goods so they wouldn’t be taxed. Very effective, Britain repealed many acts. Examples: Tea and british goods.

A

Angered by the Tea Act, colonists dumped pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. This cost the British a lot of moolah, so they became angry. They punished the colonists with the coercive acts.

American navy hero from the AR. Most famous victory was the defeat of the British warship, ‘Serapis’.

A

Colonists threw things at the tax collectors and troops fired. Both sides used the event as propaganda. First physical combat that resulted in deaths.

A

Commander-in-cheif of the CA. 1st president of the United States. Established a naval force off the coast of New England and led the army to victory at Yorktown.

A freed slave. First death of the AR. Died in the Boston Massacre.

A

A written document of the British King’s greivances. Formaly seperated America from Britain. 1776, Thomas Jefferson.

Treaty Of Paris

A

A peace agreement in 1783 that officialy ended the Revolutionary War and established British recognition of the United States’ independence. Britain was too broke to continue the war. Franklin played a key role in negotiations. It took more than 2 years to allow Americans to trade and settle west of the 13 colonies.
