Strikes and demonstrations in Petrograd became violent and politically charged - troops disobeyed orders and the Duma formed a Provisional Committee whilst the workers elected representatives to a Petrograd Soviet
What happened on the February 22?
Putilov Iron works locks 20,000 workers out due to economic depression who go on to demonstrate and strike
What happened on February 23?
International Women’s Day sees 240,000 on the streets
What happened on February 24?
200,000 strike on street with revolutionary slogans and red banners bringing Petrograd to a standstill

Rodzianko
What did Rodzianko say to the Tsar on February 28?
“The measures you are proposing are too late. The time for them has gone. There is no return.”
What did Rodzinakos telegraph say to the Tsar on February 26?
“The situation is serious … urgent”
What happened on February 27?
The provisional committee and Petrograd soviet are established separately
What was the Provisional Government?
Prince Lvov initially as it’s head - it was supported by the middle and upper classes and was accepted as the legitimate body to assume rule
What was the Petrograd Soviet?
Was supported by workers, soldiers and peasants who then elected representatives to local society with the Petrograd Soviet being the highest figure
When did the Tsar abdicate?
2 March 1917 after his generals and leading groups favoured abdication
What did the Dual Government say should be prioritised after revolution?
“The power of the state should be based not on violence or coercion but on the convent of free citizens to the power they themselves created”
What did a soldier say upon hearing of Prince Lvov’s appointment in charge of the Government?
“So we replace the Tsar with a Prince”
What was Dual Power?
A temporary share of power between PG and PS until a Constituent Assembly could be held
