Q

Adding algebraic fractions

A

Rewrite with first numerator bracket the denominator of the second fraction over bracket, one denominator bracket second denominator

Right second numerator bracket the denominator of the first fraction over bracket, one denominator bracket second denominator

Right as one big fraction with the numerator is adding and the denominators cancelling each other out

Rewrite as numerator equals denominators

Expand everything . Collect like terms equal one side to 0 by doing inverse of everything on that side. factorise that side into two brackets and have eggs equals opposite signs.

3x X 3x= 9x squared
3x X x= 3x squared

Q

Area of sector and length of arc

A

Circumference= pixd or 2xpixr
What ever angle you have over 360 times the (substituted) formula
If you have a semicircle or a quarter of a circle just divide circumference by 2 or 4 (if no angle)

Area=pi x r squared
Angle over 360 times substituted formula answer is always squared

If working out perimeter -workout arc using formula +2 radiuses

Q

Box plots

A

Draw line at minimum
Draw line at maxmium
Find median and draw line-cross till middle number
Draw line at lower quartile-cross equal amounts from minimum to median
Draw line at upper quartile-cross equal amounts from median to maximum
Using LQ and UQ draw box around median-draw long lines to minimum and max

To compare- compares medians (greater lesser)
Find interquartile range (UQ-LQ). Greater=more spread out

Q

Complete the square

A

Put x and half of the number before x into brackets with square outside bracket. Minus the number sauared and add or minus the left number.simplify into format.
To find turning point, make the bracket ewual 0 so it will normally be the number inside bracket w opposite sign.
Y is the +c part

If x had coefficient put that outside bracer and divide everything by the coeffiecent
Then have number [ (x half the number before x with square minus it squared and the other number + or -
Then u should times everything bt coefficient but leave coefficent where it it
2[(x-3) squared +5 would become 2(x-3) squared +10

A

Put the original sample number over x (total)
Then equal to rhe number found marked over the new sample catch
Simplify this fraction by dividing by common factor
To get from this numerator to orignial sample number. Do that to the denominator. Thats ur answer

Q

Compound interest and deprication

A

Compound interest- 100% -/+ percent invrease or decrease. Original number x percentage u worked out as decimal to the power of number of years.
(Id not given original number for question use 100)

Simple interest-the percent x number of years. Answer is % invrease

If trying to work out number of years it takes for something to half in value then weite the decimal to the power of different years till answer is less than 0.5

If it says total amount if interest earned then takeaway original number from answer

Depreciation just means decrease

Q

Multiply upto 3dp

A

Take out decimal and multiply as normal. See how much u had to move the dp to the right on both. Add the amount and move that much to the left in ur answer. Place dp there

Q

Standard form

A

To add:
Turn into ordinary numbers add then turn back into standard forming needed

To divide and multiply:
Divide/multiply the normal numbers and then takeaway or add the powers.if answer too big or small for standard form then change

If u make the number bigger then make power smaller if u make number smaller then make power bigger

17
Q

Table of values

A

Substitute the value of x into the expression for each value
