Realize (The prevalence of trauma), Recognise (Signs and Symptoms), Resist (and therefore resist re-traumatization), Respond (Appropriately)
What are the different components of a Mental State Exam?
Appearance, Behavior, Mood and Affect, Though progress, Thought Content, Perception, Cognition
What is required of the Appearance component of the MSE?
Person’s physical characteristics
What is required of the behaviors component of the MSE?
Response to the examiner, eye contact, rapport
What is required of the Mood and Affect component of the MSE?
Mood - Happy, Sad, Euthymic, Anxious etc
Affect - Reactive, blunt, restricted etc

Logical or not, Do stated thoughts make any sense? Are ideas Linked?

Topics or areas that the consumer thinks about

Refers to the consumer’s experience of their world through their senses

What is required of the Cognition component of the MSE?
Orientation, Memory, concentration , IQ
Define Schizophrenia
Combination of disordered thinking, perceptual disturbances, behavioral abnormalities, affective disruptions, and impaired social competency.
Difficulty thinking clearly, knowing what is real, managing feelings, making decisions and relating to others.
Define Psychosis
is the general term used to refer to the experience of pervasive mental changes, such as the inability to think clearly, perceive correctly, and manage intense emotions.
What are Positive Symptoms?
Are known as active or positive symptoms. Pronounced outwards signs of schizophrenia.
Delusions, Hallucinations, Auditory
What are Negative Symptoms?
Flat affect, Apathy, Avolition, Anhedonia, Alogia
