Differences taken into consideration & values the things that make a person unique.

Number of characteristics of diversity that are protected in our society. Means that a person cannot be treated less favourably because of them

What does Choice do
Promotes independence, gives control over their lives
Increases self esteem.
What does choice include
Choose what to:
Wear
Eat
Whether to take part in activities
The GP they want and treatment they should receive
Confidentially
Information should be shared on a need to know basis.
Care workers should not share information with other care workers or friends
Can only be broken if a person is at risk of harm for themselves or others if they pass on information
Protection from abuse and harm
User has rights to be safe from anything that may hurt them.
Includes abuse or potential risks in the environment
Equal fair and treatment
Should always be treated in line with the law and their needs
No two people should be treated the same
Should be provided the same opportunities to access education and services
Consultation
Should always be asked for their opinions and thoughts when making decision about their care and the types of activities they would like to be involved in, should inform and be included in the planning and delivery of care
