What is a simile.
A simile is a comparison between two words bybusing as or like.
Example:My sister is like a pig
What is a metaphore
A metaphore is a phrase where it is not litteral and is to show what its like similar to a simile but you would say it is rather than like or as.
Example:My sister IS a pig
What is a caesura
A caesura is a break in a ryhme in the poem or a break in a metrical line.
Example:It is you we speak for||not for ourselves.
What is enjambement
the continuation of a sentence or phrase from one line of poetry to the next.
Example:the good,morrow
What is tone and tonal shift.
Tone is what type of poem it is such a comedy,drama,romance and so on and the tonal shift is what makes the reader go through a wide range of emotions.
What is iambic pentameter
Iambic pentameter is something pleasing to the ear like a heartbeat like you hear every day.
Example:Batter my heart three-personed God.
What is personification.
Personification is when you bring a non living item to life.
Example:The alarmclock screemed for him to wake up.
What is aliteration.
Aliteration is the saming beggining letter of connecting words.
Example:smelly socks.
What is rhyme scheme
The ordered patters of rhymes.
Example:AABB,ABAB
What is rhythm.
the measured flow of words and phrases in verse or prose as determined by the relation of long and short or stressed and unstressed syllables.
What is repetition
Repetition is like aliteration but it is the same words connected in a phrase.
Example:Move Move Move Move!
What is onomatopoeia?
onomatopoeia is when you make a sound in a text to show what has happened.
Example:in the distance i heard something.BOOM!
What is slang
Slang is when your writing is informal.
Example:spill the tea
What is colloquial language?
characteristic of or appropriate to ordinary or familiar conversation rather than formal speech or writing; informal. involving or using conversation.
Example:y’all” or “gonna” or “wanna”.
Nonsecical language is..?
Gibberish, also called jibber-jabber or gobbledygook, is speech that is (or appears to be) nonsense.
