What is the role of children’s social services?

What is the private sector ?
These are services that are run as a business to make a profit e.g. private hospitals, residential homes, private nurseries.
The private health sector is the individuals and organizations that are neither owned nor directly controlled by governments and are involved in provision of health services
What is the public sector ?
These are services that are paid for and provided by the government e.g. National Health Service(NHS), school nursing, social services.
What is the voluntary sector ?
This is charities and they are slightly funded by the government but mainly with donations. They are for help and advice and they don’t make profit.
Advocacy
The role of an advocate is to offer independent support to those who feel they are not being heard and to ensure they are taken seriously and that their rights are respected. It is also to assist people to access and understand appropriate information and services. Anyone can have an advocate to uphold their rights, this can be those with a disability, SEN, children etc.
Complaints Procedure
Every care setting from G.Ps to Childrens Home must have a complaints policy in place that is reviewed at intervals to ensure its fit for purpose Care settings responsibility
ensures the service users + where appropriate their families and informal carers know how to access this easily if they
re not happy with the service
When the care setting is inspected, the complaints record will be inspected + the actions taken by the care setting to address it
Care organisations are required to have whistleblowing policies which provides protection for staff who tell the press or another organisation outside the setting that they work at that the quality is poor.
The situation can be reported to the media, the police/to a professional body to bring about awareness about the problem.
NICE
National Institute for Health + Care Excellence
NICE is responsible for providing guidance on current practice on HSC- publishes guidance+ advice that aims to control and improve the services Responsibilities:
- Evaluation whether procedures are safe and effective to be used
- Guidance about the use of special health technologies and procedures(new and existing)

They must provide:
