Q

Dangers of committing shirk in this world

A

‘Shirk’ brings a person to the lowest level of disgrace when it comes to his dignity and honour.

‘Shirk’ brings worries and fears because that person believes in the power and anger of other creatures that are false gods. He’s supposed to have the fear of Allah instead of fearing these useless creatures.

‘Shirk’ is an injustice. When people worship other creatures instead of worshipping their Creator, then this act of theirs, becomes the greatest injustice towards their Creator.

A

the Messenger of Allah said:
“The thing I fear most for you is the lesser shirk, showing-off of good deeds.”

“The Messenger of Allah came out to us when we were discussing Dajjal and said: ‘Shall I not tell you of that which I fear more for you than Dajjal?’ We said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Hidden polytheism, when a man stands to pray and makes it look good because he sees a man looking at him.’”

Q

Examples of shirk:

A
  • shirk akbar (major shirk): The major shirk (shirk al-akbar) is known as open polytheism, which can take two forms: associating anyone or anything with God, such as believing in multiplicities of god and associating His attributes with someone or something.
  • shirk asghar (minor shirk): Shirk Asghar means hidden polytheism. A person commits hidden polytheism when he avows tawhid (there is no god except Allah) but his thoughts and actions do not reflect his belief. “One who offers the ritual prayers in an ostentatious way is a polytheist.

  1. Allah (SWT) has created us all. We are all children of Adam (AS). This makes the entire human race equal in status to begin with.
  2. Each human is honorable but the most honorable amongst us all is the one who has more Taqwa (fearing Allah).
  3. Our Taqwa (fearing Allah) reflects in our actions. We can achieve a higher status in Islam only through our deeds actions.
  4. We didn’t choose our nationality, ethnicity, family, etc. So reasonably, we will not be questioned about anything of such sort. These are given resources to just test us in this world. We will only be questioned about our actions.
19
Q

Explain the rulings regarding sarcasm, taunting, mockery and fun.

A

[ Surah Al Hujurat 11 ]

Taunting and mockery severely hurts a Muslim. It’s human nature to enjoy a good joke. Islam doesn’t prohibit this it doesn’t expect us to be strict and serious all the time as long as it doesn’t harm anyone or make them feel bad. Sarcasm and fun often result in the other person feeling bad about themselves and so it is not permissible neither is taunting and mockery.

20
Q

Infer the dangers of curiosity on an individual and the society.

A

“Part of a person’s being a good Muslim is leaving alone that which does not concern him.” [ Tirmidhi, 2318 ]

A good Muslim doesn’t interfere in matters that he/she has nothing to do with - it’s a breach of privacy. This may lead to gossip or backbiting. Our words fall under the category of our deeds. and hold great weightage in Islam so we must be conscious of the nature of the talk we engage in.
