It was when the saxons in the north of England revolted against William because of the ‘injustice and tyranny which the Normans inflicted
What did William do during the Harrying of the north?
The three things the Normans did were ‘wasting their land’, burning houses and getting corn and cattle together and burning it
What was the feudal system and why did it help William?
The feudal system was the king granting land to barons(200) in exchange for knights and men. The barons granted land to knights(2000) who must fight for their baron. The knights gave land to the peasants(1.5mil) and they had to fight for their knight and work on their land. It benefits William because at any time he could have all his land back and it would keep everyone working.
