REVIEW THESE BITS Flashcards
Slope
Slope describes the steepness or incline of a line between two points.
Distance
Distance measures the length of the straight line connecting two points.
Pythagoras Theorem
A special rule for right triangles, saying that if you square the longest side (the hypotenuse), it’s equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. It helps figure out distances in these kinds of triangles.
Parallel Lines
Have the same slope
Perpendicular Lines
Opposite reciprocal slope (ex: if slope is 2 then the reciprocal slope is -1/2)
Radius
The radius of a circle is the distance from its center to any point on the circle
Finding Vertex Using Standard Form
(-b/2a,f(-b/2a))
x is -b/2a
y is f(-b/2a)
DON’T FACTOR
Finding Vertex Using Vertex Form
a(x-h)^2 + k
(h,k) are the vertex
to find the original h or ‘x’ look at the sign in front of h, if it’s negative then h is positive and if it it’s positive then h is negative
Vertex
The vertex represents the minimum (or maximum) value of the quadratic function.
Minimum
When the graph is positive (goes upwards)
Maximum
When the graph is negative (goes downwards)
sine
soh = opposite/hypotenuse
cosine
cah = adjacent/hypotenuse
tangent/TOA
tan = opposite/adjacent
