Allopurinol teaching
Drink 2-3L water/day
Methotrexate side effect and teaching
Risk for infection and CBC Q3-6 mos because of bone marrow suppression.
Hydrochloroquine teachig
Baseline eye exam, exam q6 mos, stop for blurred vision
Sulfasalazine administration
Enteric Coates
Etanercept and infliximab teaching
Can reactivate TB or hep B, report flu or allergic reaction
Cyclosporine
Notify painful urine and infection. Contraindicated w active chicken pox. Grapefruit and erythromycin cause toxicity. Stay w client 30 after infusion
Belimumab
For SLE. Depression, insomnia, and migraine may occur.
Baclophen
May increase glucose and liver enzymes and cause jaundice. Contraindicated in epilepsy.
Oxybutinin
Contraindicated in MG
Atropine
Anticholinergic, pyridostigmine antidote (drug for MG).
Zofran
30 before chemo
60-120 before radiation
Nystatin
For stomatitis. Report if it doesn’t work.
Pyridostigmine
Helps muscles function better in MG. Increase salivation, secretion, and sweat.
So atropine is the antidote in the event that clients are secreting too much
Doxorubicin
IV vesicant. Watch heart closely. Increase fluids
Cyclophosphamide
Immunosuppressant for leukemia or lymphoma, phenobarbital/rifampin/allopurinol react badly.
