What was good about appointing local, educated men as governors of these provinces?
They were familiar with their territory and needs, better than a minister from the capitol would.
What were teachers and governors viewed as in society? Servants? Farmers? Soldiers?
Teachers and governors were viewed highly, as education was part of the philosophy they followed. Servants were at the bottom, farmers were higher up in society, because they “fed” China, which the Han valued, and soldiers were often volunteers/criminals.
How did the role of scholars change from the Qin to Han dynasty?
Qin: Only legalist thoughts were correct, other books with different thoughts were burned. Qin did not build schools.
Han: teachers were viewed highly+respected in society, schools for Confucianism, legalism, and taoism were built.
Who started the Xin dynasty, and why did it end?

Banned slavery, made many great reforms to help the poor
Wealthy aristocrats hated him, people around China started to rebel, Xiongnu attacked, failed fight with Gorguryeo weakened it even more.
