Review Flashcards
What does the respiratory system do
It is responsible for gas exchange ( bringing oxygen and getting rid of carbon dioxide)
What does the circulatory system do
Delivers oxygen and nutrients to cells and takes away waste
What does the digestive system do
Digest and absorb food and then create waste product
What does the nervous system do
Transmits signals from brain to the rest of the body
What does the skeletal system do
Gives body shape allows movement and provides protection
What does the muscular system do
Contracts creating movement
What does the root system do
Absorbs water and minerals supports the plant
What does the shoot system do
Transports water and nutrients to all parts of the plant
What structures are in the respiratory system
Nose mouth trachea larynx pharynx lung bronchi bronchioles aveoli diaphragm
What are arteries
Tubes with thick walls that carry blood away from the heart
What are veins
Tubes with thinner walls and valves that bring blood to the heart
Structures of the heart
Aorta pulmonary artery pulmonary veins atrium ventricle vena cava
Structures of the digestive system
Salivary glands mouth teeth esophagus epiglottis liver gallbladder pancreas small intestine large intestine rectum anus stomach
What are the main parts of the nervous system
Central - brains and spinal cord
Peripheral- neurons (nerves)
What is apart of the Skeletal system
Clavicle skull tibia fibula hummers phalanges patella radius sternum rib cage spinal cord ulna femur
Carpals metacarpals
What is apart of the muscular system
Biceps triceps quads calves rectus abdominis external oblique pectoralis trapezins latisamus Doris triceps gluteus Maximus
What are the three main types of plant tissue
Dermal ground vascular
What does a xylem do
Transports water and minerals to plant
What does a phloem do
Transports sugars from photosynthesis to plant
What are structures in a green plant leaf
Cuticle xylem phloem spongy mesophyll cell palisade mesophyll cell stomata
What does gas exchange occur in an alveoli
The membrane is so thin oxygen and carbon dioxide can diffuse in and out of the blood stream oxygen is taken in attaching to blood cells and carbon dioxide is are blown out
