Resuscitation Flashcards
What is clinical death?
reversible state in which initiation of resuscitation can lead to recovery
How long can clinical death last for?
3-6 minutes
What is throacic impedance?
transthoracic current flow in defib
affected by pad positioning, hairy chest, air trapping
What rythms are shockable?
Pulseless VT
VF
What do you do if pulseless VT/VF persists after 3 shocks?
give adrenaline 1mg Iv
or amiodarone 300mg IV
What rythms are non shockable?
aystole
pulseless electrical activity
What are the 4Hs of cardiac arrest?
Hyperkalaemia/magnesia
Hypoxia
Hypothermia
Hypovolaemia
What are the 4Ts of cardiac arrest?
Toxins
Tamponade
Tension Pneumothorax
Thrombosis
How is Hyperkalaemia treated?
calcium gluconate
How is Hyperkalaemia diagnosed?
ABGs
How is CPR affected if Thrombolytic therapy is given?
continue CPR for 60-90 minsters
How is cardiac tamponade treated?
needle pericardiocentesis
