Resultant & Unbalanced forces Flashcards
1
Q
What is a resultant force?
A
A single force that describes all of the forces operating on a body
2
Q
How do you calculate resultant forces?
A
Forces working in opposite directions are subtracted from eachother
Forces working in the same direction are added to eachother
3
Q
Give an example of a balanced force.
A
The normal force pushing up is equal to the weight of the book. therefore the resultant force is 0
4
Q
What is the equation for force?
A
Force = Mass x Acceleration
5
Q
Give an example of unbalanced forces.
A
A person pulls 100N vs a person pulling with 80N.
the person pulling with 100N will pull the person with 80N to their side
6
Q
What is the equation for weight?
A
Weight = mass x gravitational field
