Resultant Forces Flashcards
What is the resultant force?
The overall force on a object
What happens if there is a resultant force on a object?
The object will change its state of rest or motion - changes the objects velocity
How would you find the resultant force on a car that’s accelerating?
The driving force - air resistance force
If the resultant force on a stationary object is zero the object will…?
Remain stationary
If there is zero resultant force of a moving object it will…?
Just carry on moving at the same velocity
All the forces must be balanced though
If there is a non-zero resultant force on a object it will…?
Accelerate in the direction of the force
This acceleration can be starting stopping slowing down speeding up slowing down and changing direction
The resultant force (n) =?
Mass (kg) X acceleration (m/s2)
When two objects interact…?
The forces they exert on each other are equal and opposite
