Black Codes
Were laws passed by Southerners to restrict former African American slaves rights.
They did this by restricting interracial marriages, restricted the right to own properties, and segregated them.
Political Machines
Were industrialists who forcefully made minorities vote for certain political parties.
Jim Crow Laws
Jim Crow Laws were government enforced laws that enforced racial discrimination and segregation toward African Americans.
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
A fire that out broke in a factory worked by all young females.
This was a restriction of Liberty because young women were exploited in horrible working conditions and eventually this lead to their death. Trapped in buildings that were locked so the young girls would have to work longer.
Espionage Act
Prohibited spying and journalist/ press from speaking out or refusing to join war.
Ku Klux Klan
Was a fundamentalism of people who blamed African Americans for all social and political problems. They wanted to restrict immigration and the migration of people into America who weren’t white.
