What is a fissure sealant?
A plastic resin material that is placed in pits and fissures of the molar teeth
Why do we use fissure sealant?
Make teeth easier to clean
Protect occlusal surfaces from plaque

What is abrasion?
Aggressive brushing on the teeth
What is attrition?
Grinding of the teeth
What is abfraction
Loss of tooth structure when tooth and gum comes together on the cervical edge.
Cervical edge is where the gum meets the tooth.
What is erosion?
Loss of tooth enamel caused by acid attacks. Eating or drinking citrus or acidic food/drinks.
What’s are the main constituents of amalgam?
Mercury, (sliver, zinc, copper, tin)
Types of matrix retainer are?
Siqveland and tofflemine
Symptoms of mercury poisoning are?
Diarrhoea, nausea, fatigue
What is the final stage of mercury poisoning?
Kidney failure
What is gingivitis?
It’s the inflammation of the gums which can be resolved by expert help and care of the oral health.
What is periodontist?
Periodontist is when there’s a bone loss in which cannot be recovered through dental cleaning. The gum levels drop and allows recession to appear.
What is ANUG?
Acute Necrotising Ulcerative Gingivitis
Smokers or people under stress are more likely to develop ANUG. Poor oral hygiene, diet and sleep deprivation. Painful gum infection (ulcer). Gums are painful and bleeding as well as ulcers of the interdental papillae.
What is a true pocket?
Pocket grow around teeth as a result of periodontist. The fibres that connect the gum to the teeth which are damaged.
What is a false pocket?
False pocket is when gingival pockets spaces are formed between the tooth and gum causing swelling of the gum.
