Heavenly Father called a prophet by the name of Joseph. What happened next?

Why do you think Joseph Smith was called a prophet?
Was foreordained and lived in a country which had religious freedom at the time.
Joseph wanted to know which church was right so what did he do?
He turned to the Bible and read Ephesians 4:5 where there is only one Lord, one faith and one baptism.
Joseph was invited to join many churches and was confused what did He do next?
Read James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”
So Joseph turned to prayer and asked which Church was right. What happened next?
“I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. … When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!”
The Saviour told him not to join any of the churches for they were all wrong and why did He say that.
The Saviour told him they teach the doctrine of me with a form of godliness but deny the power thereof.
What do the other churches lack?
- Do not have the fulness of the truth.

God called Joseph Smith to be the prophet and restore His gospel. What other prophets were called of God?
Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses
What happened next after Joseph was called a prophet? (3)
- Appearance of the Father and the Son, other heavenly messengers, or angels, were sent to Joseph Smith and his associate Oliver Cowdery and conferred keys of priesthood authority.
- With this priesthood authority, Joseph Smith was directed to organize the Church of Jesus Christ again on the earth.
- Through him, Jesus Christ called twelve Apostles.
Why is the Church named The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The time in which we live is referred to by Bible prophets as the last days, the latter days, or the dispensation of the fulness of times. It is the period of time just before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. It is the final dispensation.
A living prophet directs the Church today. This prophet, the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the authorized successor to Joseph Smith. Both the prophet and Apostles trace their authority to who?
He and the present Apostles trace their authority to Jesus Christ in an unbroken chain of ordinations through Joseph Smith.
