Q

How do tectonic plates move?

A

The core heats up the molten rock in the magma causing it to lose density and rise, closer to the crust the magma cools and becomes more dense causing it to fall again, making the molten rock pull the plates.

Q

What happens at a constructive plate boundary?

A

Convection currents in magma cause played to be pulled apart causing magma to rise to the surface causing a volcanic ridge (sheild volcano)

Q

What happens to a destructive plate boundary?

A

The continental crust and the oceanic crust join together at a plate margin, because the oceanic plate is thinner and more dense, it is forced under the continental crust.

Q

What is a constructive plate boundary?

A

What’s two plates either slide in opposite directions and rub against each other or two plates that are going in the same direction but one is moving faster than the other

Q

How is a tsunami formed?

A

When an earthquake or volcano eruption happens in the sea causing all the water on top of this area to rise up. This creates two blocks of water to move in opposite directions as judge waves.

Q

What are shield volcanoes?

A

Volcanoes found on constructive plate boundaries.
Formed my magma rising to surface and solidifying.
Has gently sloping sides and a wide base.
Basaltic magma.
Erupt frequently but not violently.
