What role does the jury have (Criminal)
The jury is responsible for deciding upon an overall verdict of guilty or not guilty after considering the evidence and witnesses. They are meant to be objective and impartial throughout, while reflecting the views of society
What role does the judge have (Criminal)
The judge is the umpire of the courtroom and is responsible for ensuring that all procedures are followed and the trial is conducted in a fair and equal manner. They decide on a sanction for the defendant if they are found guilty

What role does the prosecution have (Criminal)
The prosecution is representing the state, and are responsible for presenting evidence that proves the accused committed a crime, beyond reasonable doubt
What role does the defence have (Criminal)
The defence is responsible for representing the accused and attempting to prove that they are not guilty in order to obtain an acquittal.
