Responses Flashcards
Name the three main responses.
Taxes, Kinesis, Tropism.
What is the hormone used in tropisms?
IAA
What is it called for the plant tip to bend towards light.
Positively phototrophic
The plant has high IAA concentration on shaded side, what does this mean?
Activates cell elongation on shaded side of the plant to allow it to bend towards the favorable stimulus.
What are roots called to be when they bend down deeper into the soil?
Positively gravitropic, negatively phototrophic.
The root has high IAA concentration in its shaded side, what does this do?
Inhibits cell elongation on shaded side allowing for brighter side to grow and bend downward.
What is Kinesis? and give example.
A non directional stimulus. Humidity.
What does the Kinesis response do in the organism?
Changes speed and rate of the direction change.
What is taxes? and give example.
The directional stimulus. like light.
What does the taxes response do to the organism?
It changes its whole body direction to the favorable environment.
