B: chemical threat (anthrax, botulism, etc.)

VG – Vegetation Fire

(overview)

A

There are seven designated responses to vegetation fires. The different responses are determined by geography and weather.
Fire Weather will be reported in the morning each day as either:
**Normal – Typical seasonal weather pattern outside of Fire Season
**High – Fire Season or increased weather indices
**Red Flag – Extreme fire weather indices
**Lightning Plan – Increased lightning activity

The county has been divided into six geography zones for fire weather (see Fire Weather Zone map):
**Temblor – Temblor Mountains along western edge of county
**Valley – The San Joaquin Valley floor
**Mountain 1 – Southern Sierra Nevada **Mountains and Tehachapi Mountains within Battalion 1
**Mountain 5 – Southern Tehachapi Mountains and San Emigdio Mountains within Battalion 5
**Mountain 7 – Sierra Nevada Mountains within Battalion 7
**Desert – The High Desert from Ridgecrest to Rosemond

Vegetation A (Urban):

Criteria &
What resources are dispatched?

A

A minimal response for typical small lot fires within urban areas. This designation would typically not change due to any weather-related influence.
- Any designated urban quadrant (ESZ) other than those in Bakersfield City
- Any quadrant when in Lightning Plan

Resources:
o 1-Engine (T2 or T3)
o 2-Engines (T6 or T3)
o BC notification
*Additional alarm will be the same as initial alarm

A

Response to urban areas of the City of Bakersfield within BFD’s response areas.
- Wildland response during all weather patterns for BFD’s urban response areas.

the Valley Zone.
- Wildland response during “high” weather pattern for all of the “Temblor Zone” including SRA.
- Wildland response during “Red Flag” weather pattern for Desert Zone.
