response to final for WIB Flashcards
Responding to the Theme
I chose to respond to the theme by photographing architectural elements that highlight the beauty of building designs. I focused on capturing pillars, columns, and detailed structures that go unnoticed in our lives. The aim was to show the elegance and strength of these architectural features, emphasising their aesthetic roles.
Objectivity and Truthfulness
Reflecting on Albert Renger-Patzsch’s “The World Is Beautiful” and the idea of Objectivity, I believe my images strive to be truthful representations of the subjects. I aimed to capture the structures as they are, without manipulation or distortion. The black and white format enhances the focus on shapes, lines, and textures, presenting a clear and honest depiction of the architecture.
Final Print Selection
The frame I decided to enlarge for my final print features a row of pillars with strong, clean lines and a play of light and shadow. This image stood out to me because of the way it captures the essence of the architectural theme. The repetition of the columns creates a rhythm and a sense of depth, making the photograph visually engaging and representative of my project’s focus.
