cystic fibrosis
(CF} inherited disease that affects the pancreas, respiratory system & sweat glands. Characterized by mucus accumulation in bronchi causing obstruction and leading to infection
emphysema(em-fi-SE-ma)
chronic pulmonary disease; enlargement and destruction of alveoli
pneumonia(nu-MO-ne-a)
inflammation of lungs generally caused by infection;
may involve bronchioles & alveoli(bronchopneumonia) or one or more lobes of the lung(lobar pneumonia)
tuberculosis
infectious disease caused by tubercle bacillus; often involves the lungs but may involve other body parts as well
