Erect CXR
ABG if SaO2 <92%

Primary simple pneumothorax management
A
If <2cm rim and not SOB: discharge with outpatient follow-up in 4 weeks
If >2cm or SOB: aspirate - attempt twice, if still unsuccessful, insert a chest drain

Secondary simple pneumothorax management
A
If <2cm rim, not SOB, and <50yrs: aspirate with 14-16G needle safety triangle
If >2cm or SOB or >50yrs: insert chest drain
