A

A large dome shaped muscle that plays an important part in breathing by controlling the air pressure

What happens when you breathe?

A

The ribs contract and lift the chest wall up and out. At the same time the diaphragm moves down and opens the chest cavity creating more space for air as the air pressures by goes down. When you exhale the ribs and diaphragm relax squeezing the air out.
