Q

What are the functions of the Upper Respiratory Tract

A

Nose - Is made up of bone tissue (cartilage)

Nasal cavity - Helps to warm, humidifies and filter out air

Larynx(voice box) - Produce vocal sound n prevents food and foreign particles from entering into the lower respiratory tract or

Pharynx(Throat) - Muscular Pathway for the food and air to be transported to the stomach and lungs

Q

What are the functions for the Lower Respiratory Tract?

A

Trachea(Windpipe) - smooth muscles that carries air from the throat towards the lungs

Bronchi - 2 tube divided from the Trachea and are direct route to Alveolar Sacs(air sacs)

Alveoli (Air sacs) - they hold oxygen until blood the blood can exchange carbon dioxide to oxygen

Lungs - are main organs for respiratory system and they are coned shape

Q

What is Pulmonary Ventilation and how does it work?

A

They are normally called breathing, the air moves into and out of the lungs as we breath the alveoli are continuously refreshed

Q

What is external Respiration and how does it work?

A

Exchange gases between external environment with body respiratory organ. External respiratory are made between blood and alveoli

10
Q

What is Respiratory Gas and how does it work?

A

Oxygen is transported throughout the body by haemoglobin and once the blood passed the systemic capillaries the carbon dioxide is transported through the lungs and breath out

Q

Functions of the body system that works with the respiratory system?

A

Cardiovascular System - consist of blood that is transport the respiratory gases

Bones - Enclose protecting the lungs and bronchi

Digestive system - provide nutrients needed

Lymphatic system - maintain blood volume

Muscular system - Diaphragm and intercostal muscle in the muscular system produce volume changes necessary for breathing
