Respiration Flashcards
Which two structures does the trachea lead to in the lungs?
The trachea divides into left and right airways called the bronchi
What are the tiny air sacs in the lungs called?
In your lungs, the main airways (bronchi) branch off into smaller passageways. The smallest called the bronchioles, lead to tiny air sacs (alveoli).
What happens when we exhale (breathe out)?
When the lungs exhale, the diaphragm relaxes. (main point) As a result, the lungs contract and air is forced out.
What is the respiratory systems main job?
The respiratory system’s main job is to move fresh air into your body while removing waste gases.
What does the bronchi do?
The bronchi branches off into smaller and smaller tubes which carry air to the Lungs.
