Q

How do you find the conduction time of S

A

S starts conducting when il = Io and stops conducting when il = I_L0
Use v=Ldi/dt, where ΔI = I_L0 - Io and v=Vd

Q

How do you find the conduction time of the diode

A
D turns on at t2 (which is when vc=0 for 2nd time)
D turns off at t3 (which is when iD = 0)
Find t3 from iD = Io - iL
 - At iD = 0, iL=Io
therefore find the time that iL = Io
Then do t3-t2
