What are the most important things to know about Federalist 10?
A
- A strong united republic would be more effective than the individual states at controlling “factions”
- A large republic will help control factions because when more representatives are elected, there will be a greater number of opinions.
- A large republic will be far less likely to have one majority opinion since there is a great variety of opinions

What is Brutus 1 about?
There is a lot of stuff to remember for this one! Try and try until you remember all 8!

- Its writers are anti federalist, says govt will have “unlimited power”
- When people give up their liberty, they will rarely get it back, except through force
- Strongly opposed to the elastic clause in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution
- Strongly opposed to the 6th article which said that U.S. laws are “The Supreme law of the land”
- Argues that most of the rights left to the states would be “annihilated” through Article 1 Section 8
- Argues that collecting taxes is the “great engine of oppression and tyranny”
- Allows the federal government to raise and support armies in peacetime
- Solution: Republics must be small, no successful large Republic in human history

What do you need to remember about the Declaration of Independence?
A
- All people are created equal, with natural rights of Life, Liberty, and Property
- Governments are created to protect these rights
- People have a duty to change/destroy when governments aren’t protecting rights
- Imperfect government should not be destroyed, online ones that seek to subject the people to tyranny

What do you need to remember about the Articles of Confederation?
A
- This pre-constitutional document had an extremely limited central government
- Limitations placed upon the central government made it ineffective
- Each state remained its own country
- The unicameral legislature, each state got one vote in this Congress
- No Executive or Judicial Branch
- Not able to raise taxes, no standing armies
