Reproductive tract Flashcards
What is the maximal height of a normal prostate?
The canine prostate should not be larger than 70% of the distance between the sacral promontory and the pubis on a lateral radiograph. Another author stated that the canine prostate should not be larger in diameter than one half to two thirds the width of the pelvic inlet based on a ventrodorsal radiograph.
What is the radiographic appearance of paraprostatic cysts?
The “double bladder” sign, in which there appear to be two urinary bladders present in addition to the prostate gland, may be seen radiographically. Indeed, these cysts can become large, dominating the caudal abdomen and sometimes extending into the pelvic canal. On occasion, paraprostatic cysts may be bilobed structures.
