ENDOMETRIOSIS
Endometrial tissue growing outside of the uterus;
the implantation and growth of endometrial tissue occurs outside of the uterine cavity.
HPV (HUMAN PAPILLOMA-VIRUS)
-can cause genital warts
-can place one at risk for cervical cancer
Condylomata acuminata, or anogenital warts, are benign growths caused by human papillomavirus (HPV).
NEISSERIA GONORRHOEAE (GONORRHEA)
associated with pelvic inflammatory disease (common)
-affects the columnar epithelial cells in the genitourinary system
-contagious even if symptoms are not present
-dysuria, white/yellow discharge from penis, and redness and swelling at urinary meatus
SYPHILLIS
organism causing it is called Treponema pallidum
Primary-Sores
Secondary-rashes; hands, feet, mouth, vagina, anus
Latent-Dormant
-Tertiary stage: can lead to systemic vascular damage, can damage many different organs
CHLAMYDIA
neonatal conjunctivitis can be spread to newborn during the birthing process.
pain when urinating.
unusual vaginal discharge.
pain in the abdomen or pelvis.
pain during or after intercourse.
bleeding between periods.
HERPES SIMPLEX 1

can recur periodically
-can pass from mother to child
-skin-to-skin transmissibility
-can spread even when lesions aren’t visible
-sexually transmitted causes genital herpes

-cystic ovaries

VAGINAL CANDIDIASIS

may have thick, white discharge (vaginal)
-itching (vaginal)
EPIDIDYMITIS
inflammation of the epidiymis, a coiled tube on the back of the testicle.
-red, swollen, tender area on scrotum may be assessed
BALANTIS
inflammation of the glans penis
BREAST CANCER
breast self exams are recommended once a month
-one of first signs is a painless lump
mammograms every year after 40
TESTICULAR TORSION
-medical emergency
