What is adolescence?
The period of time when a child changes into an adult.
What is the anther?
The part of a flower that produces pollen.
What is the carpel?
The female reproductive part of the flower.
What is the cervix.
The ring of muscle at the entrance to the uterus. It keeps the baby in place while the woman is pregnant.
What is the cillia?
Tiny hairs on the surface of cells.
What is a Condom?
A barrier method of contracepation, which provents semen being released into the vagina.
What is contraception?
A method of preventing pregnancy.
What is contraceptive pill?
A chemical method of contraception.
What is ejaculation?
When semen is released from the penis.
What is embryo?
A ball of cells that forms when the fertilised egg divides.
What is fertilisation?
The process where the nucleus of a sperm cell joins with the nucleus of an egg cell.
What is a fetus?
The name given to an unborn baby from eight weeks of
development.
What is the filament?
The part of a flower that holds up the anther.
What is a fluid sac
Contains fluid. This acts as a shock absorber, protecting the fetus from bumps.
What is a fruit?
The part of a plant that contains seeds.
What is a gametes?
Reproductive cells. The male gamete is a sperm cell and the female gamete is an egg cell.
What is germination?
The period of time when a seed starts to grow.
What is implantation?
The process where an embryo attaches to the lining of the uterus.
What is the menstrual cycle?
The monthly cycle during which the uterus lining thickens, and then breaks down and leaves the body if an egg is not fertilised.
What is an ovary (human)?
Contains egg cells.
What is an ovary (plant)?
The part of a flower that contains ovules.
What is the oviduct?
Tube that carries an egg to the uterus.
What is ovulation?
The release of an egg from an ovary.
What is an ovule?
The female gamete of a plant.
