Q

testicular torsion

A

torsion of the spermatic cord. Emergency. If blood supply is restricted the testis, the venous capillary pressure will increase until greater than the arterial blood pressure, the arterial blood supply to the testis will lost and testis can become ischaemic and necrotic. If necrotic must be removed as develop antigens to the testicular tissue. This removes the immune privilege of the testis and then the immune system will attack the healthy test and cause infertility

Q

fractured penis

A

surgical emergency. excessive bending of the penis causes rupture of the tunica albuginea, allowing blood to leak from the corpus cavernous and results in a very large haematoma. Needs repair of the tunica albuginea and extravasation of the leaked blood to stop dense fibrous tissue from forming, which would cause deformity and possible impotence.
