Syncytiotrophoblasts
Maternal component of Placental development.
Decidua basalis
- Decidua capsularis
- Decidua parietalis
Cytotrophoblasts.
Inner layer of chorionic villi
Syncytiotrophoblasts.
Outer layer of chorionic villi.
What do syncytiotrophoblasts secrete?
hCG
*structurally similar to LH; stimulates corpus luteum to secrete progesterone during 1st trimester
What is the Decidua basalis?
Derived from Endometrium

What is the Decidua capsularis?
Portion overlying the implanted embryo and separating it from the Uterine cavity
What is the Decidua parietalis?
Remainder of the endometrium
What makes up the chorion?
XE Somatic Mesoderm

What 4 things make up the Placental barrier?
- Chorion:
- Syncytiotrophoblast
- Cytotrophoblast
- XE Mesenchym
- Fetal Endothelium
