lasix mechanism of action

A
  • works on the ascending loop of Henle
  • blocks reabsorption of Cl and Na
  • increases renal blood flow d/t increase in prostaglandin release
  • impairs Ca and Mg reabsorption
  • dilates pulmonary lymphatics (drug of choice for pulmonary edema)

they are prostaglandin inhibitors, thus decrease renal blood flow
